Samples had been widely traded, including on this website, of a species which had been collected in Natal and identified as\u00a0<i>P.\u00a0<\/i><i>natalensis<\/i>. Ultimately, those samples were found to represent an entirely different taxon, and one completely new to science at that &#8211;\u00a0<i><a href=\"https:\/\/sporeworks.com\/psilocybe-ochraceocentrata-natal-super-strain-spore-print.html\">Psilocybe ochraceocentrata<\/a><\/i>. This isolate we now offer here is verified to be the original and true\u00a0<i>Psilocybe natalensis<\/i>; a very large, unique and quite frankly beautiful species from South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Description<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Pileus (Cap):\u00a0<\/b>1, 4-6 cm in diameter; obtusely conic to hemispheric, then convex to broadly\u00a0convex, sometimes with a little umbo; no traces of a veil in any stage, not hygrophaneus;\u00a0irregular surface in some mushrooms, at first yellowish, particularly in the centre to whitish,\u00a0then pure white in older fruit bodies, in this stage grey-blue lines at the margin possible, no\u00a0further blueing after bruising or in the age.<\/li>\n<li><b>Lamellae (Gills):\u00a0<\/b>Subdecurrent; buff, then dark purple-brown with a white edge.<b>\u2022 Stipe (Stem):\u00a0<\/b>4-12 x 0.2-1 cm, at first enlarged at the pileus, in mature specimens enlarged\u00a0at the base; dry, smooth, shining, white, always curved, not flexuous, stuffed with white\u00a0mycelia at first, later hollow, without any traces of a veil; no rhizomorphs on the base;\u00a0easily staining blue-green when injured or touched, particularly on the base.<\/li>\n<li><b>Spore print:\u00a0<\/b>Deep violet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Microscopic Features<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Spores:\u00a0<\/b>(10) 12-15 \u00d7 (7) 8.5-9.4 um; broadly elliptic to ovoid; thick-walled, with a truncate\u00a0germ pore.<\/li>\n<li><b>Basidia:\u00a0<\/b>24-32 \u00d7 9-11 um, clavate, hyaline, thin walled, usually 4-spored, some fruit bodies\u00a0with a high proportion of abnormal monosporous, bisporous and trisporous basidia.<\/li>\n<li><b>Pleurocystidia:\u00a0<\/b>Abundant or in some fruit bodies very rare; 18-40 x 10-15 um; clavate or\u00a0lanceolate, with a mucronate, rostrate or papillate apex; sometimes ovate or obpyriform;\u00a0hyaline; thin walled or very rarely with slightly thickened apex; sometimes capped with a\u00a0small droplet of mucilage.<\/li>\n<li><b>Cheilocystidia:\u00a0<\/b>Lageniform; 16-22 um long, with the enlarged base 5.5-8 um wide, and\u00a0neck 3.5-6.0 um long, terminating in an obtuse, often slightly enlarged apex; hyaline; thin\u00a0walled; sometimes capped with a small droplet of mucilage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Ecology &amp; Distribution<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Habitat:\u00a0<\/b>Scattered in fertilized rich soil on pasture not on dung.<\/li>\n<li><b>Range:\u00a0<\/b>Known only from type locality in Natal, South Africa.<\/li>\n<li><b>Season:\u00a0<\/b>Summer (January in South Africa).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Phylogeny<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Section:\u00a0<\/b>Cubensae<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>ITS SEQUENCE:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>GGTTGTAGCTGGCCCTCTCGGGGGCATGTGCTCGCCCGTCATCTTTATATCTCCACCTGTGCACTTTTTGTAGATCATCGTTTTGGAAGCTGGATTGAAGTCGGAGAGGTCACTCTCTGATGAATTGAAGGCTTTCTCAATGGCGGTCTATGTTTTCATATACTCCAATGAATGTAACAGAATGTATCTATATGGCCTTGTGCCTATAAAACAATATACAACTTTCAGCAACGGATCTCTTGGCTCTCGCATCGATGAAGAACGCAGCGAAATGCGATAAGTAATGTGAATTGCAGAATTCAGTGAATCATCGAATCTTTGAACGCACCTTGCGCTCCTTGGTATTCCGAGGAGCATGCCTGTTTGAGTGTCATTAAATTCTCAACCTTACCAGCTTTTGTTAGCTTGTGTAATGGCTTGGACTTGGGGGTTCTTTTGCCGGCTTCTTACGAAGTCAGCTCCCCTTAAATGCATTAGCCGGCTGCCCGCTGTGGACCGTCTATTGGTGTGATAATTATCTACGCCGTGGATGTCTGCTATAATGGGTTGAAGCTGCTTCTAACCGTCTGTTTAGTCAGACAATTAATGACAATTTGACCTCAAATCAGGTAGGACTACCCGCTGAACTTAAGCATATCATA<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>HOW TO UTILIZE MYCOTRUE VIALS &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/1124243542?share=copy\">(SEE LINKED VIDEO)<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Remove syringe and syringe filter from packaging.<\/li>\n<li>Attach syringe filter to syringe.<\/li>\n<li>Draw plunger to fill syringe with air.<\/li>\n<li>Remove syringe filter from syringe.<\/li>\n<li>Attach needle to syringe.<\/li>\n<li>Shake vial vigorously.<\/li>\n<li>Remove cap from vial.<\/li>\n<li>Insert needle through top of vial, into air space above the solution.<\/li>\n<li>Inject an amount of air equal to the amount of solution you wish to draw.<\/li>\n<li>Invert vial and release pressure on plunger to draw out solution<\/li>\n<li>Turn upright and remove syringe from the vial.<\/li>\n<li>Cap syringe.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MycoTrue(TM)\u00a0&#8211; DNA verified research material as liquid isolate in aqueous solution.
