Description

Scopulicola Information

Trichocereus scopulicola or “Scops” is another species of fast growing columnar cacti that are originally from Bolivia. They are closely related to the San Pedro cactus and can look similar. The main difference between Scop and San Pedro are

  • Scops are typically a lighter green color than San Pedro
  • Scops typically have very small spines and areoles or can even be completely spineless
  • Scops often grow thicker than San Pedro
  • Scops commonly do not produce many offsets, whereas San Pedros tend to grow bushy with age

Dr. G Scop Information

Dr. G Scop is a cultivar that originates from Dr. Greenthumb Nursery

Super Pedro is a very popular Scopulicola cultivar among Trichocereus growers. While the exact lineage is unknown, it is believed that it’s some sort of Pachanoi x Scop hybrid. Some would even go as far to say that it has some T. Cordobensis in it’s lineage, but most experts lean more towards Scop. What we do know is that it first came about from Cactus Country Nursery which is located in Australia.

J3 Information

J3 is another cultivar from Cactus Country. It came from an unlabeled seed batch, but most people consider this cultivar to be a Peruvianus or Peruvianus/Bridgesii hybrid, with the latter being most probable. Many clones from Cactus Country are considered to be rare because there are not many in circulation, and J3 is definitely considered to be one of these rarer genetics. It has beautiful blue/green skin and stunning yellow spines. It also gets very thick growth, which is very characteristic of Peruvianus.

These specific seedlings

These seedlings are a mix of 3 different cultivars: 50% Dr. G Scop, 25% Super Pedro, and 25% J3. This would mean they are ~75% Scop and 25% Peruvian/Bridgesii. The first cactus listed are the seeds’ “mother” (Their mother is a pure Dr. G Scop). This is the plant that had the flower that was pollinated and where the fruit & seeds developed. The second plant is pollen donor or considered the “father” plant (Their father is a hybrid of Super Pedro x J3). For example: Mother cactus x Father cactus

The seeds came from Misplant Seeds, batch #1133. They’re fully rooted and ready to be planted upon arrival.

When ordered you will receive 1 seedling with roots at least 4 inches in length
