Maki is a Psilocybe cubensis variety listed by Dino Spores (the USA) on Culture Cave, sold as spore swabs for microscopy and taxonomy study. Vendors describe it as a cross of Yeti and Melmak revert. Listings, prices and stock below are rebuilt from the live catalogue every hour.
“The Maki Project is a favorite at Dino Spores due the beautiful green cap and white undulated margin, but it has been uncooperative to stabilize. During the stabilization process many different varied morphologies have been expressed, producing Bullet Bill and the very unusual Who? variety. We had to go back to the begining of the project to find the original Maki look and we are finally releasing spores of the OG Maki morphology!”
Dino Spores, Maki (Yeti x Melmak revert) swab set
Psilocybe cubensis is the pantropical dung-loving species behind nearly every named 'strain' in the hobby. The varieties differ in appearance and history, but under the microscope they are one species: subellipsoid spores of roughly 11 to 17 by 7 to 10 micrometres with a broad germ pore, and a dark purple-brown print.
Each listing above is sold by the vendor who prepared it; the vendor's country, shipping regions and real customer reviews are on their store page. A multispore syringe, print or swab carries many genetic individuals, an isolate (ISO) is one worked line, and liquid culture and agar plates are living mycelium rather than spores. Isolated vs multispore explains the labels, how to use a spore syringe for microscopy covers the slide, and how to store spore syringes covers shelf life. Buying in the UK? Read are mushroom spores legal in the UK; in the United States see the state by state guide.
