Ghost Spores: Syringes, Prints & Isolates

Ghost is a leucistic Psilocybe cubensis line, named for its pale, almost white fruit bodies. Leucistic means reduced pigment rather than none, so a Ghost specimen can carry a hint of colour on the cap where a true albino would not. Its origin is not well documented and it is generally treated as a modern hobby isolate.

The print is pale, lighter than the purple-brown of a standard cubensis, which makes Ghost syringes look thin. The spores are subellipsoid and in the usual cubensis range of around 11 to 17 by 7 to 10 micrometres. On a vendor label, look for the isolate name, the generation and whether the syringe is multispore or a single isolate.
